The revised approved budget for the McKenzie Interchange project is $96 million, the BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure revealed today.

The project to improve traffic efficiency between the Victoria core area and the west shore was originally budgeted at $85 million, so this will increase the provincial contribution to the project by $11 million.

As first announced April 12, the project completion date is now summer 2020. the budget increase is attributed to design modifications to the centre pier due to variable rock conditions, additional environmental management, and schedule delays due to winter weather and efforts to lessen traffic and noise impacts.
