Today November 20, 2019 Alistair MacGregor, MP (Cowichan-Malahat-Langford) issued a statement upon being sworn-in for the 43rd Parliament.

“As the duly-elected Members of the 43rd Parliament prepare to take their seats in the House of Commons early next month, I am in Ottawa this week for some official ceremonial procedures necessary for Parliament to resume. Yesterday, I was honoured to be officially sworn-in as the returning Member of Parliament for our beautiful riding of Cowichan-Malahat-Langford.

I want to sincerely acknowledge the trust that has again been placed on my shoulders. I pledge to work hard in the weeks, months, and years ahead to ensure our riding continues to have a strong voice in Ottawa.

Our 24-member NDP Caucus is made up of a diverse collection of both new and experienced faces, and I’m truly excited to be working alongside each one of them. We have set some conditions for our cooperation with the minority Liberal government and hope to forge a collaborative relationship between the government and opposition parties as we embark on a path of effective policies and solutions to the many challenges facing our country.

With the announcement of the Liberal Cabinet today, news of the corresponding critic roles for our NDP Caucus will be shared in the coming days. I am eager to take on my role on behalf of our riding, and look forward to continuing to work together in the weeks, months, and years ahead.”

First elected in 2015 and re-elected on October 21, 2019, this is Alistair MacGregor’s second term as the Member of Parliament for Cowichan-Malahat-Langford.
