Right in the heart of downtown Langford there was a potential incident on Thursday morning.
At 11:13 am yesterday July 10, West Shore RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious box located in a parking stall at 866 Goldstream Avenue.
That’s at Strathmore Road across from Langford city hall.
It’s a busy commercial area surrounded by urban residential.
One of the new Evolve bike-share stations was located at that corner (but was moved to in front of City hall across the street on Goldstream Avenue in an unrelated decision that took time for sorting out property lines).
Surrounding residences and businesses were notified, and the RCMP Explosives Disposal Unit was deployed to the scene.
The public was asked to refrain from being in the area.
After examining the box, police determined there was no explosive device present and the area was cleared, as provided in an update from West Shore RCMP at 5:40 pm.
