After the upcoming Thanksgiving long weekend there will be evening traffic delays for the rest of the week along a busy stretch of Sooke Road in Langford.

From 7 to 11 pm on Tuesday October 12 through Friday October 15 there will be some underground maintenance work being done by TELUS in that busy left-turn stretch of Sooke Road (between Ayton Place & Jacklin Rd).

Expect traffic delays in both directions and at the busy Jacklin Road intersection.

Enhancing local connectivity:

TELUS says that the work being done is in response to “the increasing local demand for enhanced connectivity”. In a statement from TELUS, they say the upgrade of their network is “to provide faster and more reliable wireless and home services for our customers in Langford, BC”.

“Once complete, this additional network capacity will enable TELUS to stay ahead of the demand for connectivity as the community continues to grow. TELUS crews will be completing the work during the evenings of October 12 to 15 along Sooke Road (from Ayton Place to Jacklin Road) and will do everything possible to minimize the disruption to area residents and the community,” said TELUS spokesperson Chelsey Rajzer this week.

Minimal impact on Charter:

The Charter Telecom Inc building is in that 2600-block of Sooke Road. But Charter president Kelly Michell says the TELUS work will not affect their business connectivity, as they don’t presently use a TELUS service.

As the TELUS underground work will be done in the evenings, Michell says they don’t expect access to their building to be impacted too dramatically.
