The City of Langford is thanking all residents “who chose to stay home today” which allows the municipality to clear the roads.

Langford roads are prioritized the same as most municipalities with major collectors and emergency routes cleared first.

“We have been through all smaller roads overnight but snow accumulations means that most are still snow-covered and are best to remain clear of vehicles to allow the day for crews to get in and get the snow accumulations down,” said Langford Engineering in a news release at 9 am this morning.

With the warmer weather and now a wind warning, drivers and pedestrians are urged to use caution.

Large chunks of snow will start falling from trees as snow warms and the wind comes up.

The City cautions about potential flooding: “If you have a a drain in your driveway please work to clear that before the snow starts to melt.”

In Langford, sandbags are available at four locations (bring your own shovel):

  • Centennial Park (2805 Carlow)
  • Firehall #2 (3213 Happy Valley Road)
  • Firehall #3 (2872 Sooke Lake Road)
  • Millstream Elementary School (626 Hoylake Road)
