A community fun day is being hosted by the City of Langford on the grounds of Happy Valley Elementary School at 3291 Happy Valley Road on Wednesday August 28, from 2 to 7 pm.
This has been rescheduled from August 21 due to rain in the weather forecast.
This event follows the success of a Community Fun Day in July on the grounds of Ruth King Elementary in downtown Langford which marked the launch of the City’s Public Engagement Strategy, “Let’s Plan Langford. Together”.
All ages:
The free Community Fun Day on August 28 will feature fun activities for all ages, including an inflatable obstacle course and inflatable disco, face painting, BBQ hot dogs (with vegan and gluten-free options), music, games, sports, crafts, and more!
Input to the OCP:
The event will also present an opportunity for community members to engage with City staff at a pop-up stall during the event to discuss what Langford would look like for 100,000 people through its Official Community Plan (OCP) refresh.
Click here to participate in the OCP Refresh online survey (open to September 15, 2024). Paper copies of the survey are also available at Langford city hall.
An OCP is a long-term vision for the community that shapes how the city will grow, what kind of place it will be, and how it will impact transportation, access to services, and the overall quality of future growth.
The City is updating its existing OCP and developing several master plans and strategies (including an Urban Forest Management Plan with public input online to August 26) to ensure Langford continues to grow in a way that reflects the community’s values and aspirations. The City of Langford encourages residents to participate in the OCP Refresh survey which will be open until September 15, 2024.
“The voice of every Langford resident matters. Through engagement initiatives, we’re offering residents a direct say in how the city will evolve in the next few years,” said Scott Goodmanson, Mayor of Langford.
“We want to hear the various ideas and aspirations from community members to plan for a sustainable, inclusive, and resilient community together. It’s about creating a city where everyone can thrive.”
The City also encourages residents to sign up to LetsChatLangford.ca and follow the City on social media for notifications about various engagement opportunities over the next few months.
