Of the 138 wildfires active in the province today, 36 are in the Coastal Fire Centre.
Of the total active wildfires on August 30, 108 were caused by lighting and 22 have been deemed as human-caused (by any sort of human activity, intentional or not), and eight are still undetermined.
The wildfire season continues during conditions of hot summer weather and a continued drought. A campfire ban remains in effect in The Coastal Fire Centre, as well as the Cariboo Fire Centre and the Kamloops Fire Centre. [See Campfire and other Open Fire restrictions]
No fires of note:
None of the Coastal Fire Centre scenarios are listed as fires of note.
Current fire listings include the Mount Underwood Wildfire, Sailor Bar Wildfire, and Tsetzi Lake Wildfire.
About half the fires are out of control:
Of the 36 active wildfires listed today, nearly half (17) are out of control, while about one-firth (seven wildfires) are being held, and one-third (12 wildfires) are under control.
Evacuation orders and alerts:
As of August 30 there are three evacuation orders and five alerts in the Coastal Fire Centre area.
Resources in use:
As of today there are 389 firefighting personnel assigned in the Coastal Fire Centre, under one incident management team.
