La-Z-Boy Incorporated (NYSE: LZB) has undertaken a strategic realignment of its commercial leadership.
As announced October 13, the reorganization strengthens the company’s focus on its core businesses, while positioning it for scalable, long-term growth and enhanced agility in the evolving home furnishings landscape.
They are realigning their leadership structure to reinforce their core, capitalize on their strengths, and position the organization for long-term, sustainable growth, said Melinda D. Whittington, Board Chair, President and Chief Executive Officer, La-Z-Boy Incorporated.
La-Z-Boy makes home furniture including upholstered recliners, sofas, stationary chairs, lift chairs and sleeper sofas.
People may know about their local La-Z-Boy furniture retail outlet but the corporation is an American enterprise with stores in the United States and Canada.
Economic conditions:
Recently the US Administration imposed a 25% tariff of furniture imported from Canada into the United States. The US has also increased their combination of duties and tariffs to 45% on softwood lumber (some of it used for furniture).
Households are the target market for furniture purchases. Current economic conditions for consumers are constrained in the current economy, including a sustained high level of household debt.
About the company:
La-Z-Boy has 207 company-owned stores and is part of a broader network of nearly 370 La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries® that — with La-Z-Boy.com — serve customers nationwide.
Joybird®, originally an omni-channel retailer and manufacturer of modern upholstered furniture, has 14 stores in the U.S.
In the Wholesale segment, La-Z-Boy manufactures comfortable, custom furniture for Furniture Galleries® and a variety of other retail channels.
