July 8: COVID cases surpass 3,000 in BC

Presently 17 people in hospital (three of those in ICU).

Today July 8 the BC Centre for Disease Control (BC CDC) statistics for COVID-19 in the province indicates 18 new cases today. Yesterday there were 12 new cases.

Provincial Health Officer Dr Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix did not do a live COVID-19 joint update today. Statistics are available on the BC CDC website.

Today’s new cases bring the total case tally to 3,008 since the beginning of the pandemic (2,999 lab diagnosed and 9 epi-linked).

There are presently 17 people in hospital (three of those in ICU).

Three more deaths reported today in the BC CDC dashboard, bringing the BC total to 196.

There are 2,660 people who have recovered from COVID-19 in BC.

Vancouver Island steady as she goes:

Stats remain unchanged for Vancouver Island today, compared to yesterday: total cases 133, no new cases, no one in hospital, five confirmed deaths, and 126 people have recovered.

Canadian tally:

Across Canada at July 8, there are 106,434 cases and 8,737 deaths.
