Today on Canada Day Saturday July 1, Starlight Stadium in Langford will be alive with fun and talent! Activities run 9 am to 3 pm.

The full day’s lineup includes music, activities, and talented performers, ensures something for everyone.

Enjoy tasty food, different activities, and live performers. And, of course, it is all free.

The event has been organized by the City of Langford as a Canada Day community extravaganza. All anyone needs to do is show up! Families and friends can have a good time!

Starts with pancakes:

Starting with the food, there will be the Pancake Breakfast between 9 am to 11 am, done by the West Shore Fire Auxiliary and the Royal Canadian Legion.

Love hot wings? This event is for you—sponsored by Hecklers, the hot wing eating contest is open to the first 10 people who show up! All must be over 19.

Want something a little less spicy? Pick one of the many food stations on site throughout the day.

Baking contest at noon:

For family fun, enjoy the pie baking contest that begins at noon.

Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place but everyone must register in advance at Langford.ca/Canada by June 29.

Day-long entertainment:

Day-long entertainment includes The Rising Circus aerial acrobatics and stilt-walking from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm

  • Uminari Taiko Japanese drumming group at 12:15 p.m.,
  • Island Rhythmic Gymnastics at 1:30 p.m. and magician,
  • Jason Verners, who was voted Canadian Magician of the Year, between 11 am and 2 pm

Chalk art and face painters:

For a different sort of magic, check out the talents of chalk artist, Scott Gillies, and enjoy the creative face painters and balloon artists all day long.

Cedar weaving:

Of special interest, is a cedar weaving workshop starting at 10 and again at 1 pm. with Indigenous Knowledge Keeper Linda Rabideau. Check out the Yellow Wolves and Young Wolves Dance Groups at 10:30 am and 12:45 pm.

Wildplay & obstacle course:

For group activities, register for the bocce tournament hosted by Wildplay, or test yourself on the Langford Fire obstacle course.

Crafts & video games:

Lawn games, crafts, and a special teen zone with classic video games and pinball machines offer more entertainment choices!

Quiet zone & photos:

There will also be a quiet zone for anyone who enjoys board games and a little less activity.

Check out the Four Frames vintage camper van photo-booth to get a personalized and lasting image of you, your family, and friends on Canada Day 2023 in Langford!

Before the end of the day, be sure to drop by the Mobile Visitor Centre Van to meet, greet and chat with members of Langford’s City Council.
