The owner of Westcoast Tire and Wheel Ltd, Jeff Seabrook, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday morning January 2, 2019.
The family has issued a statement: “As we are a family/friend operated business, please know our staff are still very much processing the grief and shock of the loss of their Husband, Uncle, Father-in-law, Grandpa and friend. With amazing strength the staff have opted to keep ‘The Shop’ open and running, as they know that is what Jeff would have wanted.”
The family thanks “this amazing island community who has helped support and watch this family island business grow” into the “not so little tire shop in the middle of nowhere”.

The tire shop at 4730 Sooke Road was renovated in recent years. It is a landmark on Highway 14 (Sooke Road), that ‘pops up’ seemingly in the middle of nowhere, and was often promoted as being “15 minutes from Colwood” (or not far past Langford) on the way to Sooke.
It’s interesting timing of some flooding in that part of the highway yesterday from heavy rainfall, as it’s that section of highway where significant flooding would accumulate in years past before the highway was upgraded in 2015 (widened shoulders, barriers, and improved drainage) and in 2018 (reflective directional signage).
