Jan 22 assault in Goldstream Park being investigated

In what is believed by West Shore RCMP to have been a targeted incident, a man was seriously assaulted in Goldstream Park in Langford. 

On January 22, 2026 at approximately 4:15 pm, West Shore RCMP frontline officers responded to reports of the assault.

Witnesses reported to police that they had located the man in Goldstream Park near the 1100 block of Finlayson Arm Road. 

The victim was taken to hospital with serious life-threatening injuries, say West Shore RCMP. 

Investigation underway:

No arrests have been made at this time. Investigators believe this was a targeted incident and that there is no additional information suggesting any ongoing risk to the public at this time.  

The investigation is being conducted by the West Shore RCMP Serious Crimes Unit. West Shore RCMP Police Dog Services and Forensic Identification Services also attended the scene.

The investigation is ongoing and no further details can be released at this time, said West Shore RCMP in a news release today.

Witness info wanted:

Police are asking for anybody who may have dash camera footage in the area of the Trans Canada Highway at Goldstream Park or on Finlayson Arm Road on January 22, 2026 between 3 pm and 6 pm to call police at 250-474-2264. 

“Investigators are working diligently on this investigation and would like to thank witnesses who stopped and provided first aid on scene,” says Corporal Meghan Groulx of the West Shore Serious Crime Unit.
