The growing season is winding down. Pumpkins are being picked and you’re tidying up the work of your yard from the summer growing season.
It’s also time to have your irrigation system checked and cleaned out before winter (that blowout service available up to November 14 for the current 2025 season).
And maybe plan for some irrigation adjustments in spring. It’s never too early to book a consultation or setup for spring irrigation installation or restart after the winter.
Winterizing your irrigation system:
But here we are in late October and early November, the time to get irrigation systems winterized.
To winterize a sprinkler system, first the main water supply will need to be shut off. Then compressed air is used to blow the water out of the pipes.
Next, any remaining water is drained from components like the backflow preventer and open manual drain valves at the end of zones.
Finally, all valves are closed and any exposed pipes above ground are insulated to prevent freezing.
