The annual summer pool maintenance shutdown at SEAPARC Leisure Complex is coming up June 12 to July 3.
That will include repair to the hot tub chlorination system that was damaged in November 2021 during a power outage. The hot tub has been out of service since then, as other components were also identified as being in need of repair. Replacement parts have been unavailable due to the chlorination system being out of date.
Back in December, the SEAPARC Commission approved replacement of the system as it is beyond its intended lifecycle. As well, they approved an upgrade to the entire chlorination plant. “This will ensure that SEAPARC receives the most suitable system that will be in operation for many years to come,” it is stated on the SEAPARC website.
The Facilities Department worked with a consultant to determine the pool specific regulations and researched alternative systems, products and methods that will be able to tie in to the existing system and provide adequate chlorination to the three pools at SEAPARC.
The Pool Chlorination Plant Replacement Request for Quotation has been finalized and has been sent by invitation to vendors that specialize in commercial pools. The RFQ closed February 24, 2022. The contract was awarded following the CRD Procurement Policy, and the go-ahead for repairs was announced May 2.
“We recognized this has significantly impact patrons’ enjoyment of the pool, and we apologize for the delay. We look forward to opening the hot tub as soon as possible,” it is stated on the SEAPARC website.
