“All through, our values have been clear... Hamas should have no role in the future ogvernance of Palestine,” said Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand in Quebec this morning.
“Hamas must demilitarize and disarm,” Anand told media in an outdoor scrum today.
“There must be a ceasefire and Israelis and Palestinians must be able to live in peace and security side by side.”
Canada will continue with humanitarian aid. To date, Canada has provided about $400 million in humanitarian aid has been put on the table — a priority of the Canadian government, Anand stated.
“We will continue with that process, without question,” said Anand.
Anand as Foreign Affairs Minister says she stays “constantly in touch” with G7 counterparts.
“We will continue to ensure that Canada does whatever possible to ensure that human aid flows and that a ceasefire is maintained and that Hamas is disarmed,” Anand told media.
“Those are Canadian values, and we will continue to pursue them regardless.”

House of Commons resumes:
Anand and other ministers have been meeting with Prime Minister Mark Carney in Quebec City yesterday and today, for a planning session ahead of the return of MPs to the House of Commons on Monday.
