The weather forecast for the next few days leading up to Christmas on Thursday is seasonal for the Greater Victoria area — rain and wind.
There’s a possibility of icy roads on Christmas Eve (temperature near zero), and possibly some flurries on Christmas night.
Yesterday was the shortest day of the year (winter solstice); now daylight hours start to increase by a few minutes a day.

Monday December 22:
Tonight there have been periods of rain ending this evening then skies are expected to be mainly cloudy with 60% chance of showers.
- Wind tonight will be southeast at 30 km/h gusting to 50 km/h except 60 km/h gusting to 80 km/h near Haro Strait early this evening.
- Wind will then shift to southwest 40 km/h gusting to 60km/h (early this evening) then diminishing to 20km/h near midnight. Low tonight 4°C.
Tuesday December 23:
- Cloudy with 40% chance of showers. Wind southeast 20 km/h. High 8°C.
- Night: Mainly cloudy. Wind northeast 20 km/h. Low 3°C.
Wednesday December 24 / New Year’s Eve:
- Cloudy with 40% chance of rain. High 7°C.
- Cloudy periods. Low 0°C.
Thursday December 25 / Christmas:
- Christmas Day: A mix of sun and cloud. High 5°C.
- Christmas Night: Cloudy with 30% chance of rain showers or flurries. Low 1°C.
Friday December 26 / Boxing Day:
- Day: Cloudy with 40% chance of showers. High 6°C.
- Night: Cloudy with 40% chance of showers. Low 3°C
Saturday December 27:
- Day: Periods of rain. High 7°C.
- Night: Periods of rain. Low 5°C.
