As the new year 2020 gets rolling, the work of governing gets back into action.

  • The House of Commons in Ottawa is set to resume active sitting on January 27 (to February 7), February 18 to March 13, and March 23 through April 3, before a two-week break in April. First order of business is approval of ‘the new NAFTA’. Likely also some debate about relations with Iran. https://www.ourcommons.ca/en/sitting-calendar
  • MPs for the south island area are: Alistair MacGregor, MP (Cowichan-Malahat-Langford) | Randall Garrison, MP (Esquimalt-Saanich-Sooke) | Laurel Collins, MP (Victoria)

  • The BC Legislature resumes on February 11 with a Speech from the Throne, Budget Day on February 18, and the session continuing to March 5 before a two-week break, and then back in session March 23 to April 2. Likely some pipeline expansion debate. www.leg.bc.ca
