FortisBC has provided a donation of $30,000 to the Goldstream Food Bank to help with some interior improvements and possibly exterior improvements as well.

The funds are through the Fortis BC Community Giving Program.

The Goldstream Food Bank is located just minutes from FortisBC’s Langford operations and is a vital community organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families across the west shore region,” says Diana Sorace, Senior Advisor, Corporate Communications, FortisBc.

The Goldstream Food Bank that serves primarily the Langford community and surrounding west shore region (including Colwood, Highlands, Metchosin) is located in the basement of the Langford Legion building on Station Road.

The Goldstream Food Bank operates in the first three weeks of every month. Today they relocated some food supply over to the Living Edge Westshore Food Market on Sooke Road, using one of their delivery vehicles.

“Many FortisBC employees live in the surrounding community, making our support for the foodbank not just a corporate initiative but a meaningful way to give back to the neighborhoods where we live and work,” said Sorace in a statement to Island Social Trends.

FortisBC Giving Days:

The FortisBC Community Giving Days support initiatives that help contribute to the well-being of British Columbians.

Several times a year, employee volunteers offer hands-on support for groups in their communities. They also donate to organizations through our Community Investment Program. In the past, the program has helped clean up parks and trails, build community gardens, remove invasive species, paint buildings and more.

Community Giving Days are organized by FortisBC employees who offer their time to support these causes.
