FreshCo has chosen Westshore Town Centre in Langford as the location for their first store in the Greater Victoria area, indeed on Vancouver Island.
The store officially opens this Thursday, June 18 but is set up and ready to go.
The store features a unique design format that enhances ease and convenience, says a Sobeys representative.
“Freshness, value quality and an exceptional assortment of well-loved brands,” are part of the offering.
Franchise with Sobeys:
FreshCo is a division of Sobeys that is one of the three major grocery retailers in Canada.
FreshCo franchises are popping up in Western Canada. The local franchisee at WestshoreT own Centre is Eli Chapple.
The FreschCo store branding promises “groceries at low prices”.
FreshCo offers Scene card points and gift cards.
Anchor tenant:
The previous anchor tenant in that location within the Westshore Town Centre was Fairway Market, a local-to-Victoria grocery chain which still has a Langford location on Goldstream Avenue.
For the mall this seems like a good catch for a major corporate tenant.
The first announcement about FreshCo choosing WSTC was made in August 2025.
