Mayors from West Shore Communities were recently invited to tour the RCMP Academy-Depot Division in Regina, Saskatchewan.
Mayor Scott Goodmanson (Langford), Mayor Doug Kobayashi (Colwood), Mayor Marie-Térèse Little (Metchosin) and Mayor Ken Williams (Highlands) were able to attend.
West Shore RCMP Superintendent Todd Preston hosted the mayors on the tour, pointing out the various aspects of training that produce police officers who are ready to serve.

Background:
The West Shore RCMP detachment (located in Langford) provides policing service to: City of Langford, City of Colwood, Town of View Royal, District of Metchosin, District of Highlands, Songhees First Nation and Esquimalt First Nation.
The Depot in Regina has been training members of the RCMP since 1885. Modern training includes dealing with current scenarios and mental health, as well as the 26-week applied policing academic program.
