As heavy rains continue in BC today, Minister of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness Kelly Greene will provide a flood risk update.

She held a livestream presentation at 2 pm today from Vancouver.
Minister Greene was joined by technical experts, including David Campbell of the BC River Forecast Centre.
Various flood warnings have been issued. This is done when rivers exceed their banks and in low-lying areas.
Flood mitigation equipment is in place in the Fraser Valley. Bridges on the Sumas Pike have been fully repaired since the atmospheric river floods in November 2021.
Minister Greene reminds drivers and pedestrians about water pooling on roadways. Check DriveBC.ca for updates.
Some crews have been pre-positioned in areas where flooding or overflowing of culverts might be expected, says Greene.
Orange alert:
An orange alert has been issued for the Fraser Valley area, Hope, Chilliwack, and area.
Saturated soil:
Soil in all the high-rainfall areas — including Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast — has reached saturation already, after several days of rain. This can lead to flooding.
Emergency kits:
People are reminded to have emergency kits and grab-and-go bags.
