Sunday September 15 saw Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer in BC with an announcement in Surrey at 10:30 am and then campaigning with the local Conservative candidate in Parksville on Vancouver Island starting 6 pm.
On this fifth day of the 40-day federal election campaign, Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau delivered remarks at a celebration for tennis star Bianca Andreescu in Mississauga where he said that Andreescu is an inspiration to young people everywhere after her US Open win, saying young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow but also the leaders of today.
For Trudeau, that as followed by events with the Markham-Unionville candidate in Markham. It’s likely his pre-planned campaign had to be adapted to accommodate the unexpected timing of the Andreescu event.
NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh was campaigning in Quebec today. At a media event in Sherbrooke he presented the NDP’s 11-page platform for Quebec including an expansion of the province’s language laws and the right to withdraw from federal programs with financial compensation. He says he’s looking for a way to get Quebec to sign the Constitution on its own terms, although he did not explain how he would solve the longstanding issue.
Green Party Leader Elizabeth May spent the morning around her home base on south Vancouver Island before heading to Toronto for an announcement she will make on Monday.

The federal general election is on Monday October 21. Trudeau arrived in Victoria in the evening of Day 1 of the campaign and made a housing announcement on Day 2. The NDP here on the Island say that the other parties are targeting the island ridings, particularly Esquimalt-Saanich-Sooke.
