On Thursday August 24, at approximately 5:08 pm, the West Shore RCMP received a report of a black 2012 Mazda that attempted to pass a vehicle over a double solid line and was taking wide sweeping turns nearly striking oncoming traffic on Highway 14 (Sooke Road) near Kangaroo Road in Metchosin.
Though West Shore RCMP only received one official report of this vehicle, it appears as though there were several comments shared via social media regarding the erratic driving behaviour.
“We wish to inform the public that police did stop this driver and the vehicle was towed,” said Cpl Nancy Saggar, Media Relations Officer, West Shore RCMP today in a news release.
Cpl Saggar says that West Shore RCMP officers attended the area and located the vehicle. The driver is identified as 40-year-old woman who was experiencing a mental health crisis and was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and taken to the hospital to receive care.
If you or someone you know is experiencing a Mental Health Crisis, help is available. Please visit Island Health online to learn more or call the Vancouver Island Crisis line at 1-888-494-3888.
