We are still in the COVID-19 pandemic, but now in Phase 3 of economic recovery in BC.

The Restart BC website was last updated on Monday of this week, July 13.

For the aspect of travel in the province this summer, here are the guidelines, dubbed by the BC Government as Dr. Bonnie Henry’s Travel Manners:

  • Check before you go
  • Fewer faces in bigger spaces
  • If sick, stay home
  • Wash your hands
  • Keep a safe physical distance
  • Come prepared, bring supplies
  • Respect travel advisories

These instructions are based on the requirement to maintain physical distancing and the other basic measures that are proving to help contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Travel and being in the community comes with risk:

In her joint press conference with Health Minister Adrian Dix yesterday, Dr Henry said: “Wherever we go, we bring our risk with us.”

“With every increase in our activity the potential for COVID-19 transmission increases,” said Dr Henry. She explained how in BC’s phased approach for social and economic recovery that seeing more new cases is not unexpected. “We are getting out more, we are being more active. We are unfortunately transmitting this disease.”
