For the safety of passengers and crew, multiple sailings on the BC Ferries Victoria-Vancouver main route have been cancelled today, as well as Nanaimo-Vancouver routes (from both Tsawwassen and Horseshoe Bay).
Environment Canada’s severe weather forecast calls for high winds and wave height in the Strait of Georgia. That includes winds southeast 70 gusting to 90 km/h for the Metro Vancouver area southwest including Richmond and Delta including near the Strait of Georgia, especially Tsawwassen and Boundary Bay (that forecast is for late this afternoon and early evening).
On this Monday ahead of Christmas on Thursday, many people will have been travelling for holiday plans — visits with family, or vacations.

Comment from Vancouver International Airport:
“We understand how important it is for travellers to stay informed, especially during the busy holiday season,” said Vancouver Airport Authority (YVR) in a statement to Island Social Trends this afternoon.
“Missed flights can happen for a range of reasons that aren’t always within our view,” said Megan Sutton, media lead, YVR.
“At this time our operations team isn’t seeing any weather-related impacts to YVR’s flight schedule,” says YVR.
The latest information on YVR’s operations is available online – Operational Snapshot.
As always, passengers are advised to check directly with their airline for the most up-to-date flight information.
