Cyclist injured by vehicle impact in View Royal

On May 9, 2024 the West Shore RCMP responded to a report of a cyclist who had been struck by a vehicle while riding in the roundabout near on Watkiss Way near Helmcken Rd in View Royal.

The incident took place in the wee hours of the morning, at approximately 12:30 am, say West Shore RCMP.

Police learned that a Red Jeep Wrangler struck the cyclist in the roundabout on Watkiss Way (near Victoria General Hospital), and had failed to remain on scene.

The cyclist suffered serious non-life-threatening injuries and attended the hospital to receive care.

Suspect description:

  • Male with dark, medium length hair;
  • Full beard;
  • Wearing a blue jacket;
  • Driving a red Jeep Wrangler.

West Shore RCMP are investigating this incident and are asking anyone who may have been in the area at the time and witnessed this crime to please come forward and speak to police.

Dash cam:

Additionally, anyone who was driving in the area at the time and has dash camera footage, they are asked to check their footage for the time period of May 9, 12:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m.. Police say that time phase may include images of the suspect vehicle.
