The AstraZeneca COVISHIELD COVID vaccine is available in the west shore at various retail pharmacies. Most are in Langford, one is in Colwood. There are no pharmacies in Sooke delivering the vaccine.
Of the 31 pharmacies approved to deliver the shots in the Greater Victoria area, five are in Langford.
A few pharmacies in View Royal and Esquimalt are also on the list, as well as in downtown Victoria, Oak Bay and Saanich.
About the vaccines:
- Currently in BC the AstraZeneca vaccine is approved for use in people over age 55. The BC Pharmacy Association stepped up to be the leading edge of administering the AstraZeneca vaccine to people in the age 55 to 65 year group.
- People over 65 are still receiving vaccinations at the government-authorized community clinics, where the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are being used in the BC Immunization rollout.
- People age 60+ can now register for an appointment at the Get Vaccinated online portal; registration is followed up by an email or phone call during which an appointment is booked.
