Canada’s Liberal Prime Minister Mark Carney is on a trade mission to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Meetings will be held in Abu Dhabi, capital city of the UAE.
On Thursday November 20 he will meet with the UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, Dr Sultan bin Amned Al Jaber. Carney will also meet with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Wealth in the UAE is based on energy (fossil fuel) resources. As reported by CTV today, an agreement (nearly a decade in the making) will cover trade between Canada and the UAE in areas of energy, agriculture and AI.
The UAE is not a democratic state; as reported on CBC today, media are not allowed to film Carney’s upcoming meeting with the UAE president.

Complaints about travel:
Today in the House of Commons several Conservative opposition MPs rattled on about the prime minister’s trips abroad even though they are fully aware of the need for Canada’s businesses and major industry sectors to diversify trade to other locations around the world in the face of trade challenges inflicted on Canada by the current United States administration.
Canadians often tune-out when they hear concerns from the Opposition that are not hitting the target of the main reason for government actions (i.e. in this case attempting to diversify trade as part of shoring up the Canadian economy during the US-imposed trade war).
