This year’s Canada Day celebrations on July 1 are happening across the country. It will be Canada’s 158th birthday.
Some people may celebrate by being out in nature, or at home simply to relax.

Large community events are held in most communities on Canada Day.
BC Minister of Housing and Municipal Affairs encourages British Columbians to “go out and celebrate with their families or in any way they want to celebrate”, he said while addressing media in Vancouver today. That was in the context of a current review by the Province around safety procedures at public events.

Summer season 2025:
Canada Day is the first large public event of summer.
This is the first Canada Day with Mark Carney as prime minister as an economic battle rages with the United States. Elbows up, Canada!
Politicians from all levels of government (municipal, provincial, federal) usually mingle at large public events to see and be seen in the community.
The House of Commons is now off for the summer (last day was June 20; next sitting starts September 15), so newly-elected federal MPs may be out and about to meet their constituents.
The Canada Day celebration in Ottawa this year will be attended by Prince Edward, youngest brother of King Charles III.
