Rainfall into the watershed:

“Water quality may have been compromised due to high turbidity water originating from the surface water source, Wilfred Reservoir,” says CRD.

The Wilderness Mountain Water System is located near the top of Mount Matheson in East Sooke. Mount Matheson rises to 267–293 meters in East Sooke/Metchosin offering panoramic views of the Olympic Mountains, Sooke Hills, and the Juan de Fuca Strait.

“As a precaution, the Boil Water Advisory will be in effect until the treated water turbidity is within acceptable levels, flushing has been completed, and water samples indicate the water quality no longer poses a risk to public health,” says CRD in their news release today.

East Sooke is within the Juan de Fuca Electoral Area which is part of the Greater Victoria region. One CRD Director sits on the CRD Board which oversees regional watersheds.
