UPDATE for SUNDAY JULY 21: Northwest Deuce Days takes place 10 am to 4 pm in the Inner Harbour area. About 1,400 pre-1951 hot rods, street rods and rat rods are expected for the event, including about 650 Deuces. The Deuces will be parked along Belleville Street between Douglas and Pendray Streets, and on the circle drive, side lawns in front and the parking lot behind the BC Legislature. Also on Government Street from Superior to Broughton (and perhaps Fort St), on Menzies from Belleville to Superior, on Wharf Street and in the parking lot beside Ship Point. Viewing is free.
See map.
The Poker Run of the Northwest Deuce Days came through Langford on Saturday July 20, to the cheers of people lining the streets for many blocks on either side of their pit stop in central Langford on Goldstream Avenue between 10 am and 12 noon.
The sunny, dry, bright and seasonably weather was perfect for the casual event, both for spectators and the well-appointed cars.
A tourism draw to Langford this summer, the event drew several thousand observers to see about 500 classic cars (hot rods and such) — particularly the 1932 Ford Deuce Coupe — make their way along several parts of Langford including Atkins Road, Veterans Memorial Parkway, Sooke Road along to the West Shore Parkway, Langford Parkway past the Westhills Stadium, and Jacklin Road into the centre of town.
Crowds hung out along the stretch of Goldstream from Jacklin Road down to Veterans Memorial Parkway, centered around the fountain, to be part of the memorable day. The event lasted from about 10 am to 12 noon.
Proud owners of the collector cars have come from around the world. About 1,385 cars are in the full display to be set up around the Victoria Inner Harbour on Sunday July 21.
