BC Transit is reaching out to their users of handyDART buses.
It’s part of “continuing to refresh the long-term vision for transit service in the Victoria region through the ongoing Victoria Regional Transit Plan”, it was stated in a BC Transit news release today.
“The goal of this engagement is to gather feedback on our current handyDART service and opportunities to improve the experience for our riders<” says BC Transit. That would include riders, caregivers, family members or delegates.
What is handyDART:
The handyDART serviceis a user-pay service, available by free registration through BC Transit.

Survey:
A survey was launched today for use by handyDART customers. But there seems to be no opportunity for people who are interested and involved in the Accessibility community to participate in the survey.
The online survey is open to December 22, 2025.
Open houses:
There are three upcoming open houses across three regions: West Shore (Dec 10), Downtown Victoria (Dec 11), and Sidney (Dec 13).
Those will be opportunities to discuss handyDART services with BC Transit representatives:
| Location | Address | Date | Time |
| Westshore | Royal Canadian Legion – Langford Branch, 761 Station Ave, Langford BC V9B 2S1 | December 10, 2025 | 6:00pm – 8:00pm |

“Members of the public are welcome to attend our in-person open houses to share their feedback and speak with BC Transit representatives to learn more about this important door-to-door service,” says BC Transit.
Ideas in mind:
The upcoming engagement will focus on:
- Enhancing the handyDART customer experience: including booking, wait times, reliability, and overall satisfaction.
- Identifying future service improvements: from expanded service hours to new tools like enhanced online booking, and electronic fare payment.
- Strengthening access and equity: ensuring handyDART supports independence, well-being, and mobility for people of all ages, abilities, and circumstances.

Victoria Regional Transit Plan:
BC Transit says that the insights gathered from the survey and in-person engagements will feed into the refreshed and updated Victoria Regional Transit Plan.
“The refreshed plan will be the foundation used for future service planning recommendations focused on handyDART as BC Transit continues to invest in fixed route and handyDART service to meet the needs of the growing communities until 2050,” says BC Transit.
“The feedback collected through the online survey and at open houses over the coming month, will help ensure BC Transit’s custom transit system continues to evolve and provide services that connect customers to their needs, while also identifying new priorities for the future,” says BC Transit.
