BC Transit: extended service on New Year’s Eve

Special New Year’s Eve bus transit service has been announced by BC Transit and its local government partners, for certain regions across the province.

The special service is mostly about extended evening service on Saturday December 31 and Sunday service on Sunday January 1, in these regions: Central Fraser Valley, Kamloops, Kitimat, Nanaimo, Port Alberni, Prince George, Revelstoke, South Okanagan-Similkameen, and Sunshine Coast.

Nanaimo & Port Alberni:

  • Nanaimo: Dec 31 – free service starting at 8 pm, with evening service extended to 2:30 am; then Sunday service on Jan 1.
  • Port Alberni: Dec 31 – free service starting at 7:30 pm, with evening service extended to 1:30 am on Sunday; then Sunday service on Jan 1.

Greater Victoria:

In the Greater Victoria are there are no special hours for New Year’s Eve, says BC Transit media rep Jamie Weiss.

But the service is free from 6 pm on, on that evening, Saturday December 31.

There will be regular late night Saturday service, then regular Sunday service on Sunday January 1, along with Saturday Service (no late service) on Monday January 2.
