BC Minister of Jobs and Growth Ravi Kahlon was in Ottawa today for various meetings to advance British Columbia’s economic interests.
The BC strategy called Look West was released by Premier David Eby in November, as a guide to advancing the aim to develop BC as the new economic engine of Canada. It is also themed as a strategy built for people to succeed (that being an emphasis on training or retraining workers in the skills and trades needed to further build this country’s economy.
“We are at our best when we work together,” said Kahlon in social media this evening.
“I had productive meetings in Ottawa discussing advancing Aerospace, Life Sciences, AI and Quantum sectors and Marine industry in British Columbia,,” posted Kahlon on LinkedIn.
Kahlon says the Look West plan is to drive economic growth, create good jobs, and build major projects for Canada’s future.

One of the meetings attended by Kahlon was with Transport Minister and Leader of the Government in the House of Commons Steve MacKinnon (MP for Gatineau) and several BC Members of Parliament including: Parm Bains, MP (Richmond East), Ron McKinnon, Vice-Chair, Standing Joint Committee for the Scrutiny of Regulations (MP for Coquitlam-Port Coquitlam); Terry Beech, MP (Burnaby North); Stephen Fuhr, Secretary of State for Defence Procurement, (MP for Kelowna); Jill McKnight, Minister of Veterans Affairs (MP for Delta); Taleeb Noormohamed, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation (MP for Vancouver Granville); Randeep Sarai, Secretary of State- International Development (MP for Surrey Centre); Patrick Weiler, Chair of the Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans (MP for West Vancouver—Sunshine Coast—Sea to Sky Country); and Jonathan Wilkinson, MP (North Vancouver—Capilano).

Kahlon also had a meeting with Minister of International Trade Maninder Sidhu, and Secretary of State for Defence Procurement Stephen Fuhr.
BC Finance Minister Brenda Bailey was also in Ottawa for meetings today.
BC Premier Eby was in Vancouver addressing the Vancouver Board of Trade today.
