BC Ferries has launched public engagement about optimizing sailing schedules for the two new Island Class vessels destined for two routes between the main island and two of the gulf islands: Campbell River-Quadra Island and Gabriola-Nanimo Harbour.

The public input period runs March 24 to April 12.

Virtual community meetings to ask questions of the project team are on Tuesday April 6 (6 to 7:30 pm) for the Nanaimo Harbour-Gabriola Island schedule and on Wednesday April 7 (6 to 7:30 pm) for the Campbell River – Quadra Island schedule.

The Island Class vessels are a critical part of our movement towards more sustainable operations and use some of the most advanced clean marine technology in the world. The vessels are designed for full electric operation in the future, once shore charging infrastructure and funding become available.
