Adjusted BC Ferries schedule for Vancouver-Victoria sailings March 23-30

A schedule of cancelled and revised BC Ferries sailings on the Swartz Bay (Victoria) – Tsawwassen (Vancouver) route has been issued, for today through Monday March 30.

This comes following mechanical challenges with the vessel’s starboard generator failure yesterday which caused delays and cancellations on Sunday.

The Swartz Bay (Victoria) – Tsawwassen (Vancouver) route is the busiest in the BC Ferries operations, taking people from and to Vancouver Island and the BC mainland.

This started with one cancelled sailing at 7 am on Sunday morning that was to depart from Swartz Bay. That sailing was off-loaded while technicians worked to resolve the problem with the starboard bow thruster.

The 9 am sailing from Swartz Bay was expected to proceed as scheduled but then six more sailings were cancelled (between 11 am and 9 pm), which essentially interrupted to/from Island travel for the entire day.

Travel to and from Vancouver Island from the mainland is an essential service within the travel system for coastal BC.

This is the busy spring break period for many families and visitors.
