General notes at July 30, 2018
- District of Sooke – apparently there may be a slate of one mayoralty candidate (Maja Tait), one council incumbent (Ebony Logins), and one new council candidate (Jeff Bateman — who ran in 2014 but lost by a handful of votes)
- City of Colwood – a new candidate to the political scene is Michael Baxter (a former Colwood city engineering staffer)
- District of Metchosin – a currently sitting councillor who was planning not to run in the 2018 campaign died suddenly in a car crash July 28 [Moralea Milne – deceased]
- City of Langford – current 4-year council had their big end-of-season dinner on July 30
