After this round of engagement, a rezoning application will be submitted to the District of Oak Bay for consideration.
The former care home is located at 2251 Cadboro Bay Road (just up from Willows Beach). The 4-acre lot was vacated in summer of 2020, when its residents, along with those at Mount Tolmie Care Home, were relocated to the Summit at Quadra Village.
In July 2020 The Summit opened for seniors living with complex health issues and dementia. The new care home is an $86-million facility located at 955 Hillside Ave, and is run by Island Health and the CRD.
- Working with Island Health, the CRHD supports a healthy region by investing in healthcare services and capital strategic priorities:
- Upgrades and renewal of existing health facilities and medical equipment to meet changing service requirements and prolong the economic life of buildings;
- Replacement of existing buildings that have reached the end of their economic and functional life; and
- New projects and expansion of existing facilities to meet increasing demand for healthcare services.
The Oak Bay Lodge property is currently under demolition until the end of 2021.
