To support community health and prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Capital Regional District (CRD) is closing its recreation facilities as of 5 pm today Tuesday March 17.
All three CRD Recreation Commissions met today and decided that Panorama Recreation Centre including Greenglade Community Centre, Sooke Electoral Area Parks and Recreation Commission (SEAPARC) and Salt Spring Island Parks and Recreation Commission (PARC) will close until further notice to minimize the risk of transmitting COVID-19.
“We recognize many families and individuals rely on our recreation programs and services, and we ask for your patience while we continue to determine next steps as the situation develops. Limited services are still available. Please see the list below for details,” it was stated in a release at 3:30 pm.
Day Camps
Day camps will continue to run until 5 pm on Friday, March 20 pending additional direction from the Provincial Health Officer. Child-minding services are not running at this time. We encourage parents to make other child care arrangements and expect that day camps could close at any time.
Credits for cancelled programs
Credits will be issued to anyone who has registered for activities affected by these closures. Recreation staff will automatically apply the credit to your account. There is no need to contact us to cancel. Membership passes will be extended.
DeMamiel Creek Golf Course (SEAPARC)
The golf course is currently not yet open for the 2020 season and is scheduled to commence operation in April 2020. “We are committed to keeping you updated as the situation evolves,” says CRD.
