West Shore RCMP discovered a deceased man in a residence in Metchosin today, Friday July 12.

>> West Shore RCMP have identified the victim as 60-year-old Martin Payne. West Shore investigators located Payne deceased in his home in 1000-block of Brookview Drive in Metchosin. His vehicle – a red Ford F150 pickup truck – was located by Oak Bay Police on Woodburn Avenue in Oak Bay at 1 pm on July 9.
>> “We are seeking witnesses to come forward who may have seen the victim’s red Ford F150 pickup truck or anyone associated to this vehicle between the afternoon of July 8 and July 9 at 1 pm. Also, anyone observing suspicious activity near the 1000 block of Brookview Drive, Metchosin are asked to call the VIIMCU information line (250-380-6211),” says Corporal Chris Dovell Media Relations Officer for the West Shore RCMP.

Investigators located the deceased man while following up on a report that he was missing from work. The death is suspicious and foul play is suspected, according to West Shore RCMP. The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) has been called in to investigate.
West Shore RCMP and VIIMCU are currently gathering evidence. No suspects have been arrested in connection to the death. The man’s name is being withheld until family members are notified.
“Investigators are in the preliminary stages of the investigation. Police are not releasing the name of the victim at this time as family are being notified. We will release more detailed information in the coming days,” says Cpl Chris Dovell, Media Relations Officer, West Shore RCMP.
