Update: Prime Minister Mark Carney will attend the FIFA match at BC Place on Thursday June 18.
Premier David Eby headlined a community-spirit rally at the FIFA-adorned Science World in Vancouver this evening.
This comes just ahead of Team Canada’s first FIFA World Cup 2026 match in Vancouver.
The Thursday June 18 Group B FIFA match at 3 pm at BC Place features Canada vs Qatar.
Brief remarks were delivered by Eby, as to the importance of hosting such a high profile event in Vancouver, bringing world attention to the city and province.
The premier urges everyone in BC to wear a FIFA jersey or just something red on Thursday, to provide support to Team Canada.
Brief remarks were also delivered by a former soccer player, a young woman who is a soccer coach, and a local soccer fan.
