The BC Restaurant and Foodservices Association (BCRFA) is offering their members the opportunity to help with getting ready for hosting many visitors to BC during the FIFA World Cup 2026 games in Victoria this summer.
But the training is not about serving drinks or putting food on tables.
It’s about human trafficking.
Delivered as part of Taste the Beautiful Game – BC Style, the two seminars delivered in partnership with the Human Trafficking Prevention Network of British Columbia will focus on increasing awareness and providing practical tools to help hospitality teams recognize and respond to potential human trafficking situations.
“With increased traffic and activity expected during major events, it’s important that teams feel informed and prepared,” said BCRFA in an email to sector members today.

Session 1 – Wednesday April 22 (primarily for operators involved in Taste the Beautiful Game – BC Style). The session will cover:
- What human trafficking is and how it can intersect with hospitality environments
- Signs that restaurant teams may notice
- The role of law enforcement and victim support agencies
- Steps staff can take if they suspect a situation
- An introduction to the HTPNBC web-based training tool and awareness campaign
Session 2 – details to come (applicable for all hospitality operators)
