Family Day Weekend is being celebrated in Langford with a diverse range of free, family-friendly activities for the third year in a row.

This year’s activities encourage families to explore the community and participate in new activities, all at no cost.

Family Day Weekend events in Langford will run from Friday, February 13 to Monday, February 16. All the events are free.

Langford’s events are among others across the city.

Fun in Langford:

“Family Day brings an opportunity to slow down and appreciate the relationships that matter most,” said Scott Goodmanson, Mayor of Langford.

“By offering free activities for all ages, we hope to facilitate a weekend where families can relax, connect, and make memories without worrying about cost.”

Y, music & library:

New additions to the lineup this year include a variety of free activations in celebration of the tenth anniversary of the Westhills YMCA/YWCA, Victoria Conservatory of Music, and Greater Victoria Public Library Heritage Branch. Activities include:

  • Introductory Discover Strings class at the Victoria Conservatory of Music’s Westhills location on Saturday, Feb. 14 from 1 p.m. to 2.30 p.m.,
  • Family Storytime at the Greater Victoria Public Library Heritage Branch on Friday, Feb. 13 from 10.30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and
  • Family Yoga at the Westhills YMCA/YWCA on Friday, Feb. 13 from 6.30 p.m. to 7.20 p.m.

New activities:

  • Family Ice Skating at Westhills Arena on Sunday, Feb. 15 from 3 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.,
  • a Langford Scavenger Hunt.
  • Street hockey: Veterans Memorial Park on Monday, Feb.16 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., to join the West Shore RCMP and Langford Fire Department for a street hockey event with free hot dogs, chips, and juice while supplies last.

Board games:

On Monday, Feb. 16 from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., head to the Outpost Board Game Café located at 2830 Peatt Rd #109 to enjoy 1.5 hours of free entry and game play.

With the largest selection of playable board games in the West Shore, this activity is suitable for families of all ages.

Storytime:

interactive story time sessions with princesses and superheroes, photo opportunities, magic performances by Derek “Magic” Johnson, Mr. Mojo, a reading with Superheroes of Victoria, and music with An&Ben. At Westshore Town Centre.
