There are 12 new electric vehicle (EV) charging ports at Ogden Point at the Victoria waterfront at Dallas Road, as part of a new EV charging hub.
It’s part of supporting EV adoption on Vancouver Island, says BC Hydro, adding to an existing EV hub downtown with two chargers at 1425 Store Street near Market Square.

“This new electric vehicle charging hub in Victoria continues our work with BC Hydro and other partners to make cleaner options more accessible and affordable for all British Columbians,” said Adrian Dix, Minister of Energy and Climate Solutions in a news release from BC Hydro yesterday.
“These new EV chargers in Victoria are part of our investment in electric vehicle infrastructure – supporting EV adoption across Vancouver Island, reducing range anxiety and helping more British Columbians transition to zero-emission driving,” says BC Hydro President and CEO Charlotte Mitha in a January 23 news release.
Ogden Point hub:
The new Ogden Point EV charging hub site is located in the parking lot of the Ogden Point Cruise Ship Terminal at 185 Dallas Road.
- There are two 180-kilowatt chargers which can add up to 180-kilometres of driving to an average EV in about 10 minutes.
- In addition to being faster, the units also offer dual charging or power sharing, which allows two customers to use the same charger. For example, a 180-kilowatt charger can adjust to provide two 90-kilowatt charging units, which allows up to four EVs to use these two chargers at once.
- There are also eight Level 2 chargers which can accommodate drivers based on the duration of their stay.
- The site features chargers equipped with CCS, NACS, and CHAdeMO connectors in various configurations to accommodate a wide range of EVs.

Expanding the grid:
BC Hydro says there are now over 800 BC Hydro charging ports available in communities throughout BC as part of building a public charging network to support economic growth for the estimated 220,000 EVs currently in use in BC.
“We’re expanding BC’s clean electricity supply and strengthening our provincial grid to power homes, businesses, industry and the future of transportation,” says BC Hydro President and CEO Charlotte Mitha.
As BC Hydro continues to build its fast-charging network, the electric utility says it plans to focus on building more hub sites with multiple chargers along highway corridors and highly populated areas to provide a faster and more convenient experience for its customers.
