Around 5:15 pm this evening January 1, there was a vehicle crash on Highway 14 (Sooke Road) near Sooke.
A photo of the crash site was posted in social media by a local resident.
Reportedly the incident happened in 5200-block of Sooke Road (that would be in the new highway section near Manzer Road); exact location to be confirmed.
In the photo it appears that first responders were on site including firefighters, police and ambulance.
Another photo indicates significant damage to the front of a car on the driver’s side — that car appears to have been heading eastbound and may have swerved into the oncoming westbound lane (details to be confirmed).
So far no word on any injuries.

Sunset was around 4:29 pm this evening. Temperatures are hovering around a low of 3°C. Rain is about 19% probability.

Traffic delay:
Traffic was backed up for about 30 minutes, according to local business proprietor Lori Rittaler who was in westbound traffic heading from Victoria to Sooke.
