Smashing pumpkins is an activity used by Langford Fire Rescue as a fundraising for the BC Burn Fund.
Their annual Halloween season event will be held this year on Saturday November 1.
People who bring their leftover jack-o-lanterns are asked for a donation.
The event is held in the Cineplex parking area at the Westshore Town Centre. From 10 am to 2 pm.
Langford Fire Rescue will drop them pumpkins from their 100-foot fire engine ladder.
Volunteers from the Westshore Town Centre Tim Hortons will be serving hot chocolate and coffee, also by donation, and the team from 91.3 The Zone will be broadcasting live.

“We’re thrilled to host Langford Fire Rescue once again for the sixth annual Pumpkin Smash,” says Laura Savage, General Manager at Westshore Town Centre.
She says it is a It’s a fun and memorable way for families to say goodbye to Hallowe’en while supporting a truly meaningful cause.
Environmental alternative:
People who wish to compost their pumpkins instead of smashing them can take pumpkins to Porcher Park Community Garden at 828 Wren Place in downtown Langford — anytime through Sunday November 9.
Pumpkins can be placed in the wooden box outside the fenced community garden.
