On July 23, 2025, West Shore RCMP Crime Reduction Unit executed a search warrant on a rural property in Malahat in relation to possession of stolen property.

Crime Reduction Unit officers located and seized a John Deere excavator that had been reported as stolen on June 20, 2025, from a construction site on Bear Mountain in Langford, says Cpl Nancy Saggar, Media Relations Officer, West Shore RCMP.

A 41-year-old man was arrested in relation to the stolen property and later released on an Undertaking.

“Heavy machinery like this is not easy to steal. Thanks to solid police work it has been recovered and will be returned to the rightful owner,” said Cpl. Danny Grieve, West Shore RCMP Crime Reduction Unit.
