The Urban Food Resilience Initiatives Society (UFRIS) is pleased to be planting the seeds for many decades of good food-growing habits in Langford, the broader west shore region, across Greater Victoria, and beyond.
At Porcher Park Community Garden in Langford nearly three dozen households who don’t have their own yard space are growing vegetables and fruits in raised garden beds. As well, food is donated to the local food bank or other food network support groups.

About UFRIS:
The Urban Food Resilience Initiatives Society (UFRIS) has a mandate to facilitate the availability of natural growing spaces in urban areas.
One of the UFRIS projects is to operate the City of Langford’s community garden at Porcher Park.
Community gardens allow for people without yards to have a space to grow fresh produce for their household, as an opportunity for optimal nutrition and household economic resilience.
The community garden at Porcher Park also grows food for donation to the community.
Gardening at Porcher Park is a good opportunity for youth and for seniors, as well as families who bring their children to learn about growing food.
UFRIS is a non-profit society. Sponsors and donors welcome, to help fund UFRIS operations and projects.
