The City of Langford is now looking for public input into their work to shape the municipality’s environmental development permit area guidelines.
The Natural Areas survey is open to end of day on Monday July 14, 2025.
Riparian Zones, Sensitive Ecosystems, and Biodiversity Value:
Within the survey portal you will find three downloadable maps showing Riparian Zones (Map 13), Sensitive Ecosystems (Map 14), and Areas with Potential Habitat and Biodiversity Values (Map 15).
If you know the Langford area the maps don’t require a lot of study. But it might be nice to look at them before the answering the open-ended questions in the survey.
Survey online:
Public input about preserving and enhancing natural areas is open through Monday July 14 (to end of day).
The survey is quite short. It takes about 5 to 10 minutes to complete. IN fact, the survey seems almost too short. The questions are not very detailed or specific.
All questions are optional.
Timeline for the engagement:
Public engagement on natural areas is now with the survey, and further opportunities in September. A presentation to council is planned for September/October 2052.
Other Langford surveys:
Two other City of Langford surveys are active right now — one about Parking Modernization (open to 11:59 pm on Monday July 14, 2025) and one on Arts and Culture (open to August 17, 2025).
