A provincial state memorial service will be held tomorrow, Sunday December 15, for former premier John Horgan.
Being held at at The Q Centre, 1767 Island Highway, Colwood, the livestreamed event will start promptly at 1 pm.

Tickets have been available to the public online; the venue is likely now close to fully booked.
Remembering the former premier:
John Horgan passed away on November 12, 2024 after a battle with cancer. He was 65 years old.
Horgan made public for at least a year before his death that he wanted to be remembered as simply ‘John from Langford’.
The full house at his memorial tomorrow will somewhat belie that modesty. Horgan knew that he had impacted a wide swath of society in BC and beyond — indeed, that was his intention.

Venue:
A full-house is expected for the memorial at The Q Centre, a large arena venue that can seat from 2,450 to 3,000 people depending on the setup.
John and his wife Ellie attended many lacrosse games together at The Q Centre over the years.
Formal event, public welcome:
The provincial state memorial was announced December 3 by the Intergovernmental Relations Secretariat and the Office of the Premier.
The service will be attended by several dignitaries including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Lieutenant Governor Janet Austin, Premier David Eby, and NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh.
The service will include religious components by Rev. Dr. Keith Howard, musical interludes and words of remembrance.
Trudeau will be among those who deliver remarks.
Media will be in attendance at the event.
Book of Condolences:
The BC Government’s online Book of Condolences for former Premier John Horgan will be available to December 16, 2024. All entries will be forwarded to the family.
